BIOGRAPHY
Christine has been performing in and designing musical programs for over 20 years. She grew up in the Canadian Maritimes steeped in rich Scottish culture. From a young age she has enjoyed singing the lilting melodies of her ancestors. Some of her earliest sounds were of her family's bagpipes and drums. Although she enjoyed the powerful call of the bagpipes, she decided to train her own set of "pipes" instead, and by age fourteen began her formal vocal training with Canadian Opera singer, Sheila Piercey. Throughout childhood she performed in musicals, vocal and band ensembles, Dinner Theatre and theatre groups. In 1990 she completed her Bachelor of Arts, majoring in music (voice). By nineteen she was designing musically therapeutic programs for geriatric nursing home residents. She has continued to create musical programs to teach and inspire groups from the very young to the very old. She continues performing Gaelic and Celtic Music as well as thematic musical works that she creates for stage and workshops through her music business Songs Through Time. Terrasonga is an Eco-Musical Troupe for Youth, which came out of her family's passion of caring for the Earth. With her naturalist husband, Greg Osowski, and musical daughters Kiona and Machaela, they created childrens musical groups grounded in ecology and social action, which developed into what Terrasonga is today. Her goal is to empower children not only to care about the Earth, but also to have a powerful voice in what happens to our planet. She has a dynamic way of helping children to gain strong vocal training, composition and performance skills while being a part of a fun, creative community. Christine is currently working on her first album, Perspective, for which samples are now available on this site. TRAINING Christine achieved her Bachelor's of Arts major in music (voice) in 1990 from Dalhousie University. She has vocally trained in Classical, Gaelic, Jazz and World Music with teachers: Sheila Piercey, Jeff Morris, Sylvia MacDonald, Jackie Hammer, Christine Primrose, Trisha Pope and Allyna Harris. She has studied piano with Allyna Harris and composition with Allyna Harris and Peter Mendiatta. AFFILIATIONS Atlantic Wildlife Institute: |
